Ironbutt Uk
Have a look at this if you are interested.
Would like to know if anyone is up for this as an " XRV " team. There is a wealth of off-road based event on this site and maybe this is a road event for those not too keen on avin mud up your trouser leg !!. It will be hard and it will be tough !!!!!!, possibly 36hrs and 1000-1500 miles. Also the possibility of raising funds for a well deserved charity ( GOSH, Guide Dogs, Children in Need). The PLAN !! Sat 21/06/08= Depart JoG, 12 NOON.This will allow the riders to complete the A9 section in daylight. The Motorway section M74/M6/M5 is the nightime "Stage", plenty of re-fuel and refreshment opportunities. Also a lot less traffic !! A30 from Exeter will be daylight again and should land us at Lands End well before the 12 noon deadline. The signpost at LE can be changed and the official photos taken.

Re: Ironbutt Uk
Actually had a look at their site, quite cool stuff
For personal reasons deb and i will be looking into the end to end run.Trying to collect some money for a good cause on the way. I gather you done something like this before? Would love to do the "Gold" but i'm sure ETE is a big enough challenge |

Re: Ironbutt Uk
Did some last year, but lost some recipts
.Then you had to send the paperwork to USA and it was taking nearly a year before it was processed due to the amount of people doing the SS1000. Now that Roger has been accredited to verify UK rides I'm ready to attempt a couple , knowing that it will only take a few weeks for the Certifcate. I'm up for either the E2E or the E2E Gold, let me know when you are thinking of we could team up. Probably GOSH would be my charidee.

This is from their website " Following are the guidelines for earning an Iron Butt Association Pin and License Plate Back and a Certificate of Completion for an End to End Ride (874 miles in under 24 hours) and the End to End GOLD (1,000+) ride in under 24 hours It is possible to claim both the End-to-End GOLD and the SaddleSore 1000 and End to End on the same ride.. This is however not encouraged as anyone who completes the GOLD has obviously completed the SaddleSore 1000 and basic E2E. " |

You cannot attempt the End to End GOLD award unless you have previously completed an Iron Butt ride such as the SaddleSore 1000 or BunBurner 1500 or basic End to End. The E2E is 874 miles, this is a seperate ride. E2Egold, SS1000 are both 1000mile rides, this would automatically include the E2E !. What they are saying is, while you are perfectly entitled to claim all 3 awards it is considered "bad form" or a breach of LD riding ettiquet. The E2E gold is considered an "Extreme" ride due to the limitations of our roads and the weight of traffic on them, you could do a SS1000 / BB1500 just on the motorways ,But the E2E gold involves long stretches on A+B roads Does this make it any clearer
