Trans Orientale Rally 2008

One Rally that will be thanking the terrorists is the Trans Orientale Rally 2008, all though its been on the books for while before the publicity machine kicked in last month in time for the events first run in June the cancellation of the Dakar last week has helped top up the entries!

Over the last few years decent has hit the ASO run Dakar over the increasing bureaucracy with many teams towing the official line in public but making strong disapproving noises behind the scenes, add to that the fact the organizers have listened to what the entrants want (like uncapped engine capacity in the bike class!) to produce an event that will have a lot of people watching very close with options for the 2009 event!... although i don't think its officially announced the inaugural run in 2008 will probably be attended by Si Pavey, and a few other names you just might know. I herd today from Ronn Bailey (Robbie Gordon's team mate for the 2008 Dakar) that his team has confirmed he too will attending after this years 'Dakar Disaster' in the Race Hummer.
