Yep - my names on the list though I've not actually had an email confirmation and details yet etc. They have cashed my cheque though so I'm assuming I'll hear in good time.

You going to the premeeting on the 22nd March at Stafford?

Yes, I am going to the meeting in March. Apologies that I don't know your 'real' name, no doubt you will let me know and we can meet at Stafford. I'll be on a black Domi N204TJS!

    Cheers for now.......

Blimey Boyd - you were quick outa the blocks Youre number 6 on the list

I'm number 30 - but I fully expect that to change to 50 in the order of finishers at the end of the event

I'll be on a Black Transalp covered in XRV stickers and an ''interestingly'' wired up Nautalus horn on the crashbars

    I'm now desperately looking for:
a some sort of GPS system - probably go down the mobile phone route (Nokia N95) as it combines camera, MP3 etc.
b some arse protection - looking at sheepskin rather than the inflatable type
c more fuel capacity - 110 mile to reserve is not good. If all else fails I might investigate fixing a lawn mower type fuel tank to the rear carrier!

Don't wanna sound like an old whinge but I really don't see the point of riding as far as you can in as little time as you can 'just for the sake of it'

    Am I missing something???

Be careful. The regs are really strict on auxillary fuel supplies. I don't think you'd get away with something thats temporarily fixed on the bike.

    God help us indeed

    Yes

It's a case of different strokes for different folks I suppose. One could wonder where is the attraction in thrashing and wrecking your perfectly good bike trying to ''just'' get up a steep vertical incline. Or what on earth is the point of riding round and round and round and round a track 10 times, that's covered in ice.

It's just a different type of challenge and personally, I've always liked long distance endurance events as opposed to say, taking part in a clubman race on a track, just going round and round the same mile and a quater.

There's a lot of planning goes into the endurance road events. It's impossible to get all the bonus checkpoints so you have to plan the most intelligent ride you can to maximise points, bearing in mind rest breaks, petrol range and the fact that the checkpoints open and close at all different times so youve got to plan to get yourself to the right place at the right time.

It's just a different type of challenge I suppose and one I can do - as opposed to racing round a track, flying up a hill, or riding off road, which I can't

Damn, I was going to say something similar to that - only not as eloquent!
