    Honda CRF250 range

Ive been looking at getting a CRF250X but im unsure wether to get the R or X model, i want to do alot of enduro riding with it but i will also have to ride it on the road, are there any other differences between the R & X models apart from the X is road legal? ...
Maybe the suspension/engine is better on the 250R
If so i would go for a lighting kit option for the R

any advice about both bikes would be great

    Thanks

    Hi Pinchers
The bikes are actually quite different. The R has shorter ratio gears, harder suspension, slightly different geometry, sexy twin silencers, no e start and a higher compression engine. It also weighs a bit less.

Honestly crossers are rubbish at anything other than blasting around a track, I'd go for the X. Plus, of course, you won't have the hassle of getting it road legal.

Are the X s day light MOT only they dont seem to have tidy number plates with lights on, they also look to have a small headlight maybe better than my XR400 mind as technology has moved on.
Are they finiky on maintenance also i.e every 600 miles

Yep, the R is the motorcrosser, but itdepends on the sort/club you enduro with as\to wether it will be allowed. Hasher than the x, which comes basicly road legal.

I have a late 07 250x which might be for sale soon as i may be working abroad. As people say its road legal will pass a roadworthyness test no problem.
It's a better bike for greenlaning as its not half as focused as the r models.Higher gearing and by dropping a few teeth of the rear is fine for a quick blast on the motorway to get about. And the lights are pritty good i run the chase at night with no probs......mel
