Tell the age of a crf450r

Hi guys,
I am thinking of buying a 2002 CRF450R but a few facts in the advert don't add up about the model year. Is there a didgit in the chassis number and the engine number to tell the year like with the KTM's? Or if not how is the best way to find the age of the bike and engine?

Cheers mate went on the site and found it straight away, it is the 10th didgit of the chassis number.

Also, look at the wheels, the year of manufacture is stamped on them as well.
