    New member-Project cr250 help

    HI
Been reading this forum for quite sometime and have finaly took the plunge and bought a cr250 which requires somework . I have a couple of questions which i hope someone can advise me on, these may sound a little simple but please take it easy on me LOL.
First thing is picking the bike up as i dont have a bike trailer yet. Do you think i could remove both wheels and maybe front forks and fit everything into a 5 door toyota Auris ( back seats fold down). I have promised the guy i will pick it up tomorrow so its short notice to sort a trailer out. IF it will fit in, is it quick and simple enough to remove the forks to do this.
Next, anybody suggest a few good online shops to source either new or used spares for the CR range ?
    thanks in advance
    Daz

It'd fit but put a good tarp down first as you will get some leakages unless you drain everything first.
off with the front wheel, undo the fork clamps and slide out the forks, off with the handlebars and the rear wheel, remove all plastics etc and in it goes lying down wheels on top. you might have to remove all the mudguards as well but should fit,I've gotten an 85 cr250 in the back of an old astra before with room to spare.

Thanks for the reply mate, just a quick question regarding taking the forks out ( new to all this ) are they held in with just the pinch bolts or is there a special nut on the top end of the forks holding them in. Downloaded a few manuals and they say something about undoing the top cap but you need a special spanner and it warns you about not using an adjustable in case you damage them.

pinch bolts on the clamps undone the forks should slide out, might need gentle persuasion though, better to prise the clamps open with a large screw driver than twist the fork,be gentle and it will move give them a spray with some oil and slide them out.
