    CCM C-XR230 same as a Honda CRF230??

I've started to consider buying a Honda CRF230 and saw this listing on ebay which suggests that CCM C-XR230 is a rebranded Honda CRF230.
    2007 CCM CXR230 E 230 same parts as honda crf230 57reg on eBay (end time 02-Aug-10 15:57:56 BST)

    Is this true?

I notice that the CCM has a rear disc brake (which a CRF doesn't) and the forks appear to be shorter.
    Any other differences?

Or is the CCM a good alternative to a CRF230?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

As far as I am aware the engine (and possibly other parts) are chinese made to order for CCM. The final assembly may well be done by CCM, I'm not sure.

Sorry I can't be more help. See link below.

    Thanks that's useful.

Does anyone know if the early C-XR230's are exactly the same as the CRF230 - i.e. parts made by the Chinese to Honda design or there was some differences between both models?

    Thanks.

Re: CCM C-XR230 same as a Honda CRF230??

    hi,
i have seen the ccm bikes close up, dont buy the original one, it has the older cg type pushrod engine and it it very different, not as much tourque ect, the later ones have a copy of the ohc engine and are much better,
as for the cross fitting of parts they do look remarkably simmilar and some have said that parts will fit, but i am not 100% sure, the ccm does have a rear disc yes, but i have not found my crf to be lacking in that department after 5 years of ownership and using it in comps and trailriding ect.
wether it will last the time is anyones guess, if it cheap, it may be worth going for.
the forks do not seem much different, but i have not been able to see both close up for very long, some i have spoken to say that they are pleased with thier ccm's.
if you need any measuring just pm me

About the only thing they have in common is the numbers in the name (230) the CCM seems to be a cheap copy and may be a bargain to some but i find these chinese sourced bikes are of poor quality compared to REAL Honda's.

Put a picture of a CCM230 and a CRF230 side by side and play spot the difference

I think that is perhaps the crux of it, with a decent road legal CRF230 holding their price at around £1800 and CCM’s going for half of that, they might be worth a punt for an occasional trail rider (like myself).

It would be useful to know how interchangeable the parts are. If they’re interchangeable and being as the price of second hand Chinese bikes drop like a stone, it might even be worth buying a CCM as spares for your CRF!

Re: CCM C-XR230 same as a Honda CRF230??

They are a cheap chinese bike that someone (CCM) has stuck a badge on and named it as similar to a popular brand (honda xr230) as they can get away with and put BULL**** propaganda about it being the SAME AS A CRF230 to make you think its a bargain!!!

A quick glance through the specs of each reveal NO PARTS ARE THE SAME

    frame
    swingarm
    rear brake
    rear wheel
    forks dia
    bore
    stroke
    exhaust
    weight
    power

the engine cases reveal a different shape of engine altogether

and just to top it off the CCM website lists the DRY WEIGHT as 118kg which is 4.5kgs MORE THAN MY CRF450X

I won't comment any more on this thread so...

pay your money and take your choice!!!

    i know which i WOULDN'T buy
