Not yet...but I've got Friday off so I'll just "potter" to work tomorrow and then remove the cable, lock stock and barrel on Friday to check it over.

    Cheers.

    Anton88 you are THE man.

My bloomin' speedo cable has snapped...I undid the Instrument connector and gave a little tug on the cable with pliers..it just kept coming and coming lol.

So any way thanks for the tip..now tell me where I can get one from

Just off to check Dave Silver......

Mine has snapped two cables in 24k miles. Before you strip the inner out, attach the clock end to a drill and ream out the liner to make sure you get any rust deposits off the side walls. Next is flood the liner with oil when you reattach it. I didn't do this the first time and ended up getting another cable as the first one failed in the exact same spot as the original (hate spending money and these things aren't that cheep)

    Scott,

B4 u get carried away, make sure you disconnect the whole speedo to check its snapped - the inner cable that you pulled out will come out anyway - you need to check the other end at the wheel to see if there is still a bit in there. (unless i've misunderstood what youve written and youve done this?).

The inner cable should be one piece - if you find 2 pieces then yes its snapped.

Sorry - just trying to save you any un nessecary expense.

    Lol ...that's OK.

Actaully I never checked at the wheel hub end for the remaining piece..

However, the piece that came out was only about 18 inches long and as Sqirrel wrote there was a 'snapped' and rusty end on it, so I am pretty much sure it is broken.

    Thanks guys

Anton88, the cable can't all come out the top as there is a lip on the bottom bit. It must be fed in from the bottom, up

Well then that's proof positive that my cable has snapped.
    Anyway I've ordered one from WEMOTO - £10.75 inc. £1 p&p. :P
David Silver wanted £13.95 + VAT + p&p AND they didnt even have one in stock ...twats.

WEMOTO had one in stock and the luvverlee American (I think ) lady assured me that it would be posted this morning, so I might get it tomorrow.

Sorry - i didnt realize that the cable could only come out one way - thanks for that Squirell - now i know

Wemoto have been really good when i've used them - theyve also got lots of other dominator spares if you should need them and their pricing seems pretty good.

Re: CHAPTER 19 - LIGHTS, INSTRUMENTS & SWITCHES

Hi fellow petrol heads! My Dommie's headlight's internals have now got a mind of their own and rattle about something terrible....of course the glass is supersupersuperglued to the housing, so I need a whole unit. I've noticed that some ebay items market these as NX650/Transalp scheinwerfer (oh yeah ! I need a continental one...). Are they really one of Honda's standard parts that fit both models and all years ? Can anyone shed some LIGHT on this .....ahem I must subscribe soon...ahem...
