    Still Git idle problems!!

Hi folks , having purchased a dominator 96 about 4 weeks ago which I might add im pretty happy with , makes a mockery out of sports bike and BMW's through London traffic as they are pretty nimble when you get used to them - as you well know They problem I still have , which I have had from the beginning is that it stalls at the traffic lights. I have had the oil , battery, spark plug, air filter changed, but it still does it !!

It only seems to happen when the bike is hot - as in when I have to stop a lot at traffic lights , and also when I knock it down a gear sometimes to slow down - it sort of blows it's self out while still rolling!!

I didn't get the manual with my bike, and just wondered if the previous owner had put the incorrect plug in there, and when I had it serviced it was the wrong one put in again!! Would this manifest it's self in the manor shown above? I haven't had the carbs aprt yet , or had a muc about with them , cos I want to methodically get to the bottom if it rather than do things all at once, and create more problems!!

Past experience's would be greatly recieved or knowledge.

    Cheers

Hi matey, this is a regularly appearing link re the Dommie as its a bit of an achilles heel. Most believe its to do with weak running on the pilot jet caused by poor adjustment or air leaks in the inlet manifold.
First job is check for air leak, either by removing the rubber and looking for spllits (ball acher ) or spraying on a soapy solution and looking for bubbles (easier, but not quite as fool proof)
If all is well, then I'd go for checking the settings on the pilot screw (another big ball acher) I believe factory setting is 2 1/4 turns out, start from here, set tickover to 1500rpm, then twiddle pilot srew till maximum revs are achieved, then reset tickover to 1500rpm. At the end of all this, things SHOULD be OK and you will no skin on the backs of your knuckles
The other way is to take it to a dyno guy. The dyno, wont find the weak tickover (as it only works on needle & main jets accurately) but the dyno man will have to get his knuckles graized fixing it for you
