    Engine paint

Is the metallic bronze engine coating unique to the Dominator Does any of our membership know where I can get hold of some - perhaps a Dupli-colour or Halfords copy ? Generally Spanner is reasonably flake-free for an 88 model, but there are some spots begining to appear ....and why do I get grey smoke from ONE of the exhausts when I start her up (RH CAN when sitting on bike) - doesn't last long, and the oil is pretty new..... theres a good engine paint called PJ1 coatings that can handle temps up to 500 f they do quite a range of colours for the different manufactures. so you might get lucky with that

I had my engine sprayed with two pack car paint Gold and silver and then with laquer. If you look through the colour charts you will fine one close. If you have smoke from only one exhaust it can only be vavlve guides on that side cylinder.

yes its easy enough to get hold of the valve guide seals just involves a top end strip down it'll give you a good chance to re lap in the valves and give everything a good de'coke

im going to be investigating the engine on my RD03 so im jumping in the deep end as well and it all starts this weekend

he says waving the spanners purposefully

You could do the easy work yourself if you have a place to leave stuff open for a few days...

Get the tank + fairing off, valve cover off (loosen the carb), then get the head off and take the loose head to a specialist.

This is probably what I would do, my bike could do with some fresh valve seals, and I'm getting a wee bit weak at the knees at the prospect as well.

    Hi
I had my complete engine sand blasted and sprayed with etch primer and then a sort of gold crankcase and silver top end and then spayed with laquer and all of it has stayed on Heat was not a problem.
