    SLR

    Hi

Just looking for some advice, popped into a local 2nd hand dealer today and noticed a P reg SLR tucked away in the corner. Had a look around best I could as it was a bit cramped but all looked ok for a bike with 26,000 miles on it. The dealer was looking originally for £1450 but came down quickly to £1320. There are a couple of dealer stamps on the service book and some info that would show the previous owner has maintained it himself.
Will get a ride on it next Saturday, what should I be looking for, bearing in mind this will only be used as a local runabout and a bit of green laning.

    Any advice welcome

Welcome LeBox -always a pleasure to have more onboard If you skip (search) through the Dominator postings you'll happen upon this topic before. As far as I remember the SLR was the result of an NX weight shedding program, witha sligtly tamer motor -but , if you're using this as a commuter - why not ? Web figures show around 145km/h and 39bhp, and I'd imagine an astonishingly good return for your petrol money. You'll get the run down with some of the lads on here, but for that price/mileage it doesn't seem a bad investment.

Nothing wrong with the SLR To be honest, I quite like them (bit cleaner looking and minimal plastics) Motor has calmer cams but apart from that is pretty much the same as the rest of the Honda big singles. Not much goes wrong with the motor as long as oil has been looked after so be interested in that if you can. It's the same old same old with Hondas, that is top end problems if the oil's has been neglected. If that's OK the rest of the motor should be fine.
Know several owners who would tell of ribbings by fellow riders, but few who would complain about the bike itself. Very capable of getting to and from work for little maintenance and less petrol. Go for it and enjoy (as long as it runs sweet of course )

Should pick it up a week Saturday, after the dealer has put a years MOT on her
Like you say its not the fastest but when I had a go everything felt ok and pretty nippy through traffic.
Probably going to stick some of the TKC tyres on her and try some green lanes.
£650 for yours sounds avery good deal, what sort of condition is yours in?

Well condition not brilliant ignition switch had been chiseled from top yoke got a second hand yoke and new switch forks were weeping and pitted but not in the swept area was just going to replace seals and fit gaiters but found a real nice set on ebay with a set of downpipes and silencer that it did not really need but the chrome trim was missing from the left silencer and the exhaust brackets that held the pipes to the engine were nearly rotted out, paid £150 for the forks and system delivered replaced a couple of rubber grommets that hold the side panels in as they were flapping in the wind, and it had the wrong clutch cable fitted to long it was working but very stiff, and the engine and the footrest ally mounts are peeling badly, and back tyre was just about on the limit, rear disc worn out won a new one from Wemoto on eabay last week for £16 so that needs fitting now other than that its mostly sorted now though except for paint
