    Pillion foot peg rubbers

Pillion foot peg rubbers on my Dommie are perishing and falling apart, currently held on with cable ties.

Despite the fact I NEVER take a pillion, this has been bugging me so I bought new ones from David Silver.

Does anyone have experience/ top tips for replacing those? It looks like it would be a struggle to push them on from the "open" end of the peg due to the prominent metal lip which helps keep them on. It looks like it would be better to dismantle the peg and push the rubbers on from the pivot end. But I have not tried dismantling a foot peg before, so what do I know?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The pegs are held on by a pin with a split pin and washer on the bottom.
They are easily removed just pull the split pin and remove the washer and pin and the peg will come off.
Cut the old rubber off and use some hairspray on the inside of the rubber and then slide the new rubber on to the metal and adjust to fit.

I have seen people using cable ties to help the rubber slide on and then removing the cable ties once in place as well.
    Good luck with it.

Got one off the pegs off, replaced the rubber, cleanup and reassemble no problem. The other one needs a new pin and a new split pin for reassembly.

Great was the other pin flogged out or just rusty?

The split pin snapped off inside but the footpeg pin itself was well worn so probably worth replacing anyway.

What size is the pin I have some stainless ones at home. Cannot remember the size at the moment. But they have stainless washers and split pins with them .

    Re: Pillion foot peg rubbers

The trick for the rubbers is to have them pushing on the plate between the rubber and the end of the footrest, this helps to stop them rattling and wearing the pin.
