Dominator help needed.

Hi just picked up a 89 Dominator,few bits not sure about.
It rattles slightly when cold but goes when hot,sounds like tappits?
Starter makes a weird noise ,but turns over ok.
Gears feel a bit clonky,goes in & out is this normal.
Does the oil in frame lubricate cluch,or is there a seperate oil bath for this.

I heard somewhere that decompressor (valve lifter) can rattle a bit at start up, then quietens down when it's warm.

I've heard that too...

Lots of bikes make a bit of noise when cold, if it goes away when warmed up I wouldn't really worry about it... I mean I know what I'm like in the morning, can't really blame the bike for the same behaviour.
