Yeah, bigger in the back smaller in the front. Sod all top speed at the more extreme gearings, but the bike will pootle along at sub walking pace, or go up a hill with ease, which is nice.

Friend of mine used to do extreme gearing on his XT, he had it set up at one point so the bike would barely do 80 while revving its nuts off in top gear. 80 km/h, that is. But it would run up a sheer vertical cliff by the looks of it.

Currently got 15 front 45 rear and i like that Gives me 70mph @tad over 4500RPM. Used to have a 46 rear which was ok but 70mph got a bit buzzy at a tad under 5000RPM. Doesn't sound a lot, but makes things a bit nicer IMHO

Ive had many Trials bikes.. an one Trail bike I had was a Honda XLR250 an I wanted it to perform like atrials bike with the climbing ability.. I got a rear sprocket made... 47 was std.. mines had 82 teeth... I could pull away in 3rd or 4th gear.. it only went 50ish flat out... but what fun i got with that bike.. a trials bike ye kin actually sit on ... I think a 14 front on the Dommie will be sufficient.. it`l wheelie no problem wi a wee bit help o the Clutch.... any bike will lift in 1st from the throttle only.. ave found teh Dommie a excellent bike to wheelie... an am talkin here half mile wheelies in 4th.............

    Depends on the year:
    88-90 is 15-45
    91-95 is 15-47
    96+ is 15-46

No idea about FMX and SLR/Vigor.

    Re: Best sprocket sizes

    The SLR runs 14/43.
I currently have 14/45 but am going up to 14/48. Unless someone can point me towards a 13T front sprocket to save me the cost of the 48T with a new chain. 1 tooth on the front is roughly equal to 3 on the back.
Where I live there are no straight bits longer than 400metres. Tight bends. Huge drops with no barriers. Advisory Max speed: 40kmh, can manage to see 90kmh on a really mad day. Rapid pick-up out of the bends is what I need. So far I've chopped over 12kgs from the SLR, that helps too!
