    Question Best sprocket sizes

Saw a post in the AT forum that reminded me. I'm thinking of changing my sprockets on the Domie (when I get it) Looking to up the gearing so that top end goes down and acceleration goes up!!

Given the standard top end of about 95 mph, I'd be happy about 80-85 mph, with hopefully lashings of stupidity in 1st, 2nd and 3rd!!

What is a good sprocket size (front and rear) for this?

Mine has 45 as stock, and I've had a 47 on as well.

    It's nice, I got 80 km/h at 4000 rpm in 5th, 100 km/h at 5000 rpm in 5th. And just a bit more fruity on the acceleration...

Do the clocks smack you in the face in second?

If not I'm going to a 178 on the rear!!!!! (top speed of about 22mph...)

Not really, but then I seem to be utterly incapable of doing a wheelie, not even in first...

(Managed one once, on account of a slipping clutch that decided to not-slip all of a sudden.)

Don't tell anyone else on here, but neither can I!!

Even on a TL 1000s, I'd make a pigs ear of it and spend the rest of the ride doing 30 after scaring myself!!

Stoppies, I can do: with those, cock it up and you land on your head, with wheelies you land on your @rse: obviously an evolutionary trick to protect my brain!

No idea what sprockets are on mine, does 90 flat out, 75 @ 5K. Wouldn't want to go much more as I already find 1st gear too short, 2nd gear is the wheelie gear (i'm working on it )

    Hi warthog

ive never changed the rear sprocket size ( i have a 45 ) but ive tried every size front, the smallest one you can get is a 13 tooth an the largest one is a 16 but that one will only fit without the front chain Gard on (not recommended) i only use that one when ive got to squeeze as many miles out of a tank of fule as possible,
even with the 13 on the front the dommi wont wheelie under its own power, you will still have to help it a little , but use the lower gearing off road an it makes a big improvement

    Re: Best sprocket sizes

On the odd occasion that my rev counter works, spanner shows 5000rpm at 100km/h - which basically agrees with this thread. I believe my rear sprocket is a 45 too. This suits me and my area just fine......

15 front 46 rear fitted to mine, works well.

ok, so what is going to make the dommie easier to use off road then? Bigger on the back as trials bikes have huge rear sprokets?
