    vibration in 4th,5th gear.

Iput a thread on here a while ago about my Dominator ,vibrates in 4th,5th gear .It feels like the chain is jumping,i checked the rear sprocket & there is a lot of side way movement in the cush drive ,also seems to be small peices of rubber on the outside of the hub.Ithink this is the problem ,i have not taken it apart, any ideas.
    Cheers Ian.

does your chain need renewing - if its at or near the end of its adjustment, its time to change - also check that none of the links have gone stiff - again time to change if this is so + check sprockets are no worn. If you do need to change, get new chain and sprockets.

The cush drive shouldnt cause any juddering once your moving - as far as i understand they act as a damper when you initialy get into drive and on each gear change - once moving this should not cause any problems.

What rev's are you trying to pull in 4th & 5th?? Dommies don't like pulling high ratio gears much below 4k rpm and if you're trying to hold low speeds in top things will get juddery.
Chain & sprocket wear tend to manifest themselves on pulling off/low gear activity. Once the bike is cruising (ie constant revs, constant chain tension) things calm down.
If this doesn't help, have a gander at the front sprocket. chain slip is more likely there as the radius is smaller so more stress is placed on each individual tooth.
As for bits of rubber hanging out the cush drive, well that ain't going to help With the rear wheel off the ground can you feel any play in the rear sprocket?? If you can think about that happening 1000 times a minute when that power stroke fires off

As per the replies above, but check out your cush drive rubbers, you'll notice a clunk every time you back off the throttle and the get back on it again as the hub takes up the slack in the wheel. Only had my Dommie two weeks now and I've also noticed that it hates pulling tall gears in low revs, chain clunks big time, and if you have a knackered chain, as previously mentioned, then this will heighten the problem.
