    Engine Colour

Been struggling to find an engine lacquar to match my dommies engine cases, the oil filter cover and gen cover were suffering a bit of rot.

Thought I'd try a quick fix / bodge, and found Vauxhall Smoke Grey Metallic from the local Halfords is a near perfect match.

It's not heat resistant but seems to be holding up well (only painted the gen cover)

That great, I need a paint match for my old CB250K4 and I reckon that is the colour!

Heat shouldn't be too much of a problem, I painted my engine cases on the CB about 10 years ago with some ordinary car Halfords paint and it stayed on OK, was no worse than the original Honda paint, just way to bright!

    That's good to know

If your unsure of the colour, halfords carry a large selection ( 2 x A4 binders full) of colour charts, choose a popular colour that they stock (i.e. Ford, Vaux) to keep costs down. Or they can mix any colour you choose for £10.99 a can !!!

    Looks good.
And it's not heat resistant ? Did you spray it on ?

Anyone got any suggestions on how to spruce up my exhaust pipes which are looking a little rusty ?

    Buy new ones.

Really. The original black pig-iron exhausts just turn brown.

Iv'e painted them once with 800 degrees C supertherm paint, and they were brown again within a week...
