Gear Lever - new one ?

    Hi
My gear lever was very loose when I bought my Dommi. I made some mods to it so that it would tighten up and it has been good for about 4000kms.

Now it's getting loose again , just wondering if anyone has had cause to replace the gear lever ? Any suggestions?

The Shaft seems to be in good condition , I think the lever is just worn from being used while loose.

    I'm on my 3rd or 4th I think...

They do tend to come loose, and if you're not careful they will stuff up both the splines on the lever and the shaft.

Try drilling out the threads and put a high tensile bolt right through. Also remove a little of the gap where it nips together. I managed to salvage a worn spline and its still tight after 2 years.

Be careful with that though, the chain runs pretty close above the shifter.

It does seem to b a weak point wit Dommies and you need to check regularly.I,m on my 3rd lever,I totally destroyed a brand new one from David Silvers a couple of months back when I needed to jam on and go down the gears

You say shaft is ok,so new lever should be grand.

If the shaft was damaged you could put a bolt into the shaft/lever.I,ve done this and the thing won,t budge.Need to b steady with a drill etc etc.

Will try to post a pic tomorrow, easier to view than put in words

Thansk guys , I will get a new one.
I have removed some material from where it pinches together before and that worked as I could tighten it up.
But it's started to come loose again.
