A friend has an NX650 that stalls all the time at lights, no probs when actually mobile. Weve been told "they all do that". Any ideas on ways to lessen it ??. It idles away and then goes fart and stops.

Mine too. I recently had it serviced at a Honda main dealer and asked them to take a look at it to see if they could stop it.
They certainly did something, because now it stalls twice as often as it did before they touched it!
There is another thread somewhere on here about this. One person suggested raising the tickover, which sounds a crude way of fixing it. The other one suggested making the mixture a little richer, but couldn't remember whether the adjuster should be screwed in or wound out.
Has anyone successfully cured this annoying habit?
for me it does only for some few minutes after the start.
and after a long motorway ride, at the first two lights.
but with that high consumption it has it makes me really angry. somethig must be around the carb...
Firstly don,t panic they all do that ,esspecially when coldthere's 2 things to check though if it's really bad as I,ve come across this problem
1 Air vent tube from one side of carb to other, check not split (Unlikely u say, but worth checking)
2 If older model check carb insulater or in everyday talk the black rubber thing from carb to head.It was definetely a design fault and weak point, later models it was much smaller and closer to head. They split underneath and suck air in which ****s everything up and the bike stalls.I have replaced mine a couple of times.
If it is split you might not see this when not running.Start the bike and either get a small mirror so you can see underneath or press underneath with your finger.
Hard to put stuf like this in words easier to see

Have a lookie... http://home.online.no/~kays/gallery.cfm now that's a split insulator![]()
I had that problem too, once the choke cable was not routed properly (thanks to the local honda dealer)so when i turn the front wheel the engine stalls. Another time the rubber intake was broken as another member mentioned.now and again the carb needs to be cleaned to avoid the engine from stalling
