    tips on top end rebuld honda xl500r

    honda xl500r just got new cam rocker arms as a little waer will this be ok with new cam also will it be ok to polish the bore with a honing tool as i want to use the same piston an how can i tell if my oil ring is worn

    best advice would be to renew all the components that show any wear.

    Also get the bore honed professionally as they tend to wear out of round due to the rocking action of the piston as it slides up and down. It may need to be over bored slightly to get it back to round. That would then mean a new piston too.

    New Oil and Compression rings are a must if you touch the bore at all
