There is a thread about FMX tuning a bit further down the list (linked here)..

Also, a quickGoogle search will lead you to a good article on Roadracers

To summarise, Arrow cans (full system incl headers ) + K+N filter + Dynojet (in that order) is the way to go. I am saving for the Arrows!

Nope. The FMX is a much better handler, better brakes, more engaging riding position. With all the aftermarket parts as above, the FMX BHP will be close to the XT and still come in cheaper, i bought mine for 3500 new... If you are into funmoto-ing i reckon the the MT-03 is a closer rival than the XT660.

Re: hi new in the area

well at 3500 new thats very hard to beat, I had a new one 07 plate , i had it for 500 miles till I got caught in a good bit o rain then it decided tae run like an aul cow.... only when it rained, so a traded it in fur a xtx 660...as a had a xtr660, but the time a spent wi the FMX it wheelied absolutley amazingly an very easy... an am talking half mile wheelies in 4th gear goin up the box... this is it from brand new.. mind you....its been the easiest bike ave ever had to wheelie other than its aul cousin the XL500R standard 14 t sprocket on the fmx it didnt need anything doin to it....as ye dont want loud pipes an stuff when yer wheeling all the time as it attracts attention....and 85 /90 top whack... ye dont really need any more....other than a wee bit o stomp low down...an the xt660x does all of this fur me...a think Honda lost the build quality when they threw the gither the FMX,,,ave had 4 Varadero`s 6 Dommies, an a transalp 5 XL500`s 5 xl 250`s 3 185`s 3 125`s all the trailie classes an a must say they all had character an a build quality but a think the FMX has taken a back seat....in the build.... but the XTR is a nicer looking bike, wider seat, a heavier look to it 45 horse on tap better Lights an Dash, injection, MUCH better starting its the best bike ave ever had for starting,,, the engine even looks better...the whole bike looks like the dogs....sturdier...and I paid 2k fur a 54 plate wi 7k miles on it...ye cannot beat that,,,,then a bought a 05 FMX now that was a dog...the guy had it fae new kept it outside without a cover on it an ran it all year fur nearly 3 years....heres a pic before a took the pipes off it....
