    XR600R carb on the NX650

well...so i was told that having an XR600R carburator and cam on the XR650L is the best upgrades for the better...
So since the XRL is having the same engine as the NX650...

I have got an XR600R carb...and my original NX carburator choke cable having a problem which it wont go back to its home position inside the carb after you have released the choke...so when you ride, sometimes it just jerk off as if you're riding with the choke on...so now,i let the idle a little high so not to have that feeling...

So the question is,anyone tried or heard about the XR600R carb on the Domi?
    For good or for worst?

    cheers...

    AJ

I've been told by a guy who's worn out 3 dommies that when properly tuned it's a nice upgrade for the NX. Apparently it makes things a bit livelier, but you will have to fiddle with the jetting to get it right, it's never a drop-in solution.

Re: XR600R carb on the NX650

i've done the carb conversion to the XR600R carb...a little alteration needs to be done...however,the XR600R carb that i got had needs some parts replacements..i did a test run...did some cleanup on the carb and turn the airscrew to 2 and 1/4 turns.increase the idle and bike starts as per normal.
I also replaced the carburator manifold because the old ones suffered cracks on it.but the new ones intake was very restrictive and has to be grind off which i dont have the tools.might do it another day.airfilter still using stock.will be replacing it with twinair filter soon.

I had a stock DRZ400SM to standby if the XR600R carb really cockup.

    the XR600R carb fitted in.

Friends help me out pimping the bike abit with this wiremesh job on the headlens.

i test run the bike around my house area.It was doin fine except not much punch on the torque but was smooth throughout the pull of the throttle.

However, later that nite...i test riding the bike on the highways, the bike choke and just die off.
and unable to start.so somehow,i pulled the choke up,and crank...the bike started and i am able to do the ride...another ride again, after quite a distance,i would still have to do the same process again..

Feedbacks would be great...tell me what you guys think might be the problem.i feel that at some point of time riding, the fuel just didnt enter the carb bowl..
Issit a overflooding?i suspect is the float or the little bullet type bugger..

will take alook at it again this weekend.

Sounds more like fuel starving. Think you're going to have to clean the carb out again and check the filter in the tap.

hey...thanks for the output...i noticed you have a TDM900 too..you're from Carpe too?

what happened today was,i brought the bike to work today...and was running the usual pull the choke up and down for it to make it to destination.
I inquire from a friend.he said to try bring the needle clip down to make it slightly richer.i am really crap at this...but will try...

but as i was on my way home, the bike just failed to start and at times when i was cranking,boooom...loud shotgun sound...2 to 3 times...
did the same choke method thing, but this time...it didnt manage to revive it.there's fuel in the carb bowl.
Last resort,to take out the spark plug which i had just replaced yesterday.
good thing i brought my toolpak today.
the spark plug was all black with carbon but dry.
So i just replaced a new spark plug in,hit the button,it roared...
keep back everythg in the rear box and ride home quickly...

So,as it is now...any kind soul have any clue what's goin on?what do i need to do next?

    cheers...

Do the "c" clip on the needle. Does sound like it's lean.
Might have over heated the plug as it'll run hotter.

    Yeap, On carpe too.
