    Re: slow to turn over

my FMX never sounds very happy to turn over. I was worried it may be the battery so i took it off the bike, charged it overnight, no difference.

I've watched a few youtube videos where people have started their FMXs and they spin over a lot quicker.

(if you will excuse the absurdity of trying to put sounds into text) they go
    shuka shuka shuka brum

    where as mine goes
    ssshhhuukkka ssshhhuukkka sssshhhhuuuukkka brum

and it makes me jealous. lol

Mine does that too when it's cold out. As far as I know it's just normal, batteries don't like cold.

I'm a bit slower than usual as well getting out of bed when it's cold, brrrr. You should hear the GS heaving over in the morning when it's freezing and it's spent the night outside.

Try going through the wiring and making sure the earth to the frame/engine etc is good, the connections to the motor /solenoid are clean, may help. had the same with my mini car years ago very slow to turn over even with a new battery, cleaned up the earth to the body and engine made big difference,

    Re: slow to turn over

    I have the same troubles.

Cannot start electrically, must use the kickstarter

Mine is a '89, tried jumperstarting, but no go. Took the starter apart but looks brand new. Also checked the (thick) wires, seem all to be allright.

It is all a mistery to me?!?! Am thiking that the decompression vale is not working allright?!?

    Kicking starting seems normal.

    Greetings.

    Re: slow to turn over

Its because the motor is soooo choked by the exhaust system. change the cans and get rid of the cats(full system) and it will spin over a lot quicker !
this is what i found anyway when i put a full arrow system on it.

Also check the starter bushes, I bought new battery because of the same symptoms and it turned out to be worn bushes.

    Re: slow to turn over

Don't FMX's have starter motors? Same engine and starter so symptoms could be the same. Odd on a newer bike but not out of the question.
    yes mine is/was a Dommie.
