    SLR650

    Hi all!

I'm gonna be looking at an SLR650 tonight and wondering if any of you have any experience of these. It's hard to find out much about them! I currently ride an XR125 and am assuming the speed and acceleration are gonna be excitingly different!?

I'm on an A2 licence and so would have to restrict the bike too.

It's an S reg with 12k on the clock for £1250

    So what do ya reckon!?

i've got a fx650 which is apart from some cosmetic changes the same bike. they are good fun in the city and on country lanes but not really suited to motorway riding. a good reliable bike that, when taken care of will last a long time. check the oil often, honda recommends before every ride.

Yep I got it, it's in excellent condition and boy does it go! Perfect for my commute, though I'd be prepared to use it on the motorway too - just the wind drag I've got to get used to!

They are quite rare but on speaking to my local bike shop, they tell me they see this type of bike quite a lot and spares are easy to get hold of. Regular maintenance will keep it going forever, though checking the oil everyday is a bit over the top in my opinion, once every 1-2 weeks should be fine.

One thing I don't have is a manual which is annoying! So I haven't a clue how much oil it takes or what the tyre pressures should be. joch, do you have any info like that for your fx650?

How much oil it takes? Does yours have the dipstick in the front part of the frame? Does the oil filter need changing at every oil change?
Also how often would you say the oil needs changing?

Tyre pressures? And what size tyres does your bike have?

    Thanks for this!

Mine 100/90/19 front and 120/90/17 rear. avon distanzias i use the tyre pressures recommended for the dommi on the avon site 33front 36 rear much better handling than the standard honda pressures

Interesting, I've just done the same on the Bridgestone site for the Dommi and it doesn't match the same front tyre size - 29 front and 34 back though, higher than I've currently got them anyway, might make a difference!

Oil 10w40 I use semi synth car oil without a problem
capacities without filter change 2.1 litres with filter 2.15 litres after rebuild 2.5 litres check the oil after having run the engine for a few minutes then letting it settle for a minute or 2, with bike upright
change oil every 2000 miles filter every other oil change, and check the screen/filter in the outlet in downtube is not blocked when changing oil
