    Better brakes

Although the consensus here seems to be that the Dominator brakes are fine, I wasn't happy with mine (it could be they were worn) so I have upgraded them to a 320mm front disc - it fits and works really well!

If anyone wants to do the same thing I can give the name of the German guy who supplied the disc and adaptor plate (for about £150)

    Regards,

    Simon

    Hi Simon

nice to see you took the plunge on upgrading your brakes

Did you manage to find out if the XR caliper up grade bracket fits or is that a custom bracket you have on there?

Nice looking kit that. Has it made much of a difference? Is it now showing your front shocks need attention?

    Re: Better brakes

I think it has transformed the braking and made the whole riding experience much nicer because I now have as much confidence in the stopping power as the cornering (which with Avon Roadriders seems amazing).
I haven't got any concerns with the front shocks - they are in good condition and when I fitted the brakes I put new oil in them, made sure the level was right (it wasn't before!). I think they work pretty well even with the extra forces involved.
The German guy who made the disc found a company called HE that had an adapter for the Domie (it wasn't the XR one).

I might have to make an adapter for my next brake upgrade though (GB400) as no adapter exists.

    "Bremsen"

I have a set like that on my GS, along with a four pot brembo caliper. The difference is quite spectacular indeed.
