    No spark... pulse generator?

Have owned '92 Dominatrix since August w' no-end of (un)reliabilty probs so now getting tools out.
No spark, so have measured across ignition coil primary, and secondary, windings. Appear OK. Have bridged all safety switches(stand, clutch, kill). Have second CDI unit to compare against. Now back as far as pulse generator and measured resistance (at plug/socket on frame forward of spark plug) expecting 420 - 520 ohms, but reading about 600ohms on cheap analog meter. Not sure whether there should be a voltage PULSE (as name would suggest) or pulse of OPEN or CLOSE?
    Any suggestions?

It's summer here and am hating not being out on my bike

You should be able to get a pulsing voltage of around 0.1v while cranking.
