KR1S is a 250 2 stroker race rep.Like a tzr/rgv. The first model was a KR1 and came with the three spoke wheels which i have fitted.Later KR1S had five spoke wheels and i'm pretty sure they can be swapped straight over so you could use five spokers if you wanted too
The wheels themselves are unmodified. The rear end transplant needed:
The KR1S swingarm is ever so slightly too wide to fit the frame. A millimetre if that, so i had to very lightly machine it down to fit.
I had to make new linkage bars/dog bones that connect the swinger to the shock linkage. Two strips of flat steel easily does the job.The swingarm mountings and the shock linkage sit perfectly in line with each otherAt this point you can alter the ride height if you fancied.
Everything else bolts together as it would on a standard KR1.The wheel, brake, torque arm etc. The chain alignment on mine lined up perfectI had to have a rear sprocket made to fit a KR1 with Dommie ratio as they are unavailable off the shelf. No hassle, B+C Express made a nice alloy one for me for around 25 quid
The front conversion is as follows:
Use the dommie spindle with the KR1 wheel and spacers. The wheel fits straight in but........... the wheel has to be turned 'backwards'. There is a direction arrow on the wheel, this will need to point the wrong way round.Cos its a straight spoke wheel this doesn't have the problems of a curved spoke wheel. After many many wheelies my front wheel has held up just fineOk, wheel in the forks....... use one KR1 disc on the left hand side with the KR1 wheel spacer. On t'other side use the KR1 speedo drive or have a spacer made to the KR1 speedo drive dimensions. Cos the wheel is running 'backwards' you can't use the speedo drive to run a speedo now. I use a sigma bicycle speedo instead. You can use whatever caliper you fancy as you will need a mounting plate fabricating to hold one. I am using the left hand KR1 one which is plenty adequate
And thats it.Very easy really and the difference in the ride is incredible.Crazy lean angles and rear end slides on sticky rubber!!!!
