Dommie runnig awful on full throttle

Hello,

My mate has a nx650l and has been complaing of it juddering and coughing at over 5000rpm in only the top gears.

I have taken it out and it felt like it was going onto reserve when it didnt need to, i put it on reserve and made no difference. I stopped and it was puurfect...lol until in top gear and then i slowed down and it was fine.

I have:-

stripped and cleaned the carb out
changed the plug, cap and ht lead.
checked the fuel tap screen
checked and adjusted the valve clearences...........

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?????? PLEASE

Try changing / cleaning the air filter, under full load it will feel like the choke is on and lose power if the filter is U/S.

Sorry forgot to say, fitted new air filter. But on paddock stand it was perfect so as you said its only under load.

the only other thing I can think of is the carb is not setup correctly, either the mixture or jetting has been disturbed.

Make sure the carb slide isn't sticking. At higher mileages the carb slide and body can wear causing the slide to jam. Is it running standard exhausts? Mine ran like a bag of poo with different exhausts on.

You could also check the rubber carb insulator these are prone to splitting underneath.this happened to my dominator.good luck.

Try to check your choke cable. I've a friend who never lubricated his and found out that with the choke lever on full open, the choke was some 1/5th of the way in instead of all out.

His dommie was eating gasoline like a 1200cc but was running like a 300cc in top gears/at high revs.

You said you've cleaned the carb, did you check the diaphram ?i had a very similar fault under load and the diaphram had a tiny split, when reving the engine just tood still it appeared ok but under load mine wouldnt rev past 3000 revs, good luck i hope you find a solution
