    Question FX650 Travelling

    Hello.

I was just wondering if anyone on here uses their bike for long distance travelling?

I was thinking of doing a 200 mile trip, but not too sure if doing it on the Vigor will be the best idea.....It does tend to use a bit more oil if its cruising at motorway speeds...

I was rebuilding my other bike (Honda CB500) to do distance riding, but its proving to be more problematic than anything.....

    Hope to hear some details...

I've used my FMX for a few 150mile + trips.

Longest so far was about 227miles if i remember right

(I can usually sit down again by about the third day afterwards as well)

Thought I should reply as I started the topic :P

Thanks for the replies (sorry mine is late :S I read the replies but forgot to reply)

I will take a tub of oil with me on a long distance journey so I can top it up now and again (when I stop for food or drink :P)

200 miles trip (I might be like this on the seat when I near the end of the journey though :P and thinking why did I do this :P)

    Thanks for the responses.

I did a few 200 mile trips on mine with no problem at all.(My bike never burned any oil though,i think i'd be sorting that problem out rather than just keep topping it up)
Just dont do it all in one go...

Haha, I think the fuel would run out first :P

Its not too bad on oil....it seems better with heaver oil...

10w40 is ok in winter, but in summer it seems to smoke a lot :S
I tried a bit of 15w40 I had and it seemed better...

Each bike is different though it would seem...

I must sort out the oil pump return valve....I can only check the oil once the bike is nice and warm :P
I just normally check it when I end a ride, and put some more oil in next time I ride....

I've done a couple of 1000-mile days on my dommie. The trick is to just keep riding. Cycling shorts and a real sheepskin on the seat are a good idea as well.
