SLR650 horn

Well I've just about had enough of people pulling out in front of me, and the latest event (although I didn't really come near to being knocked off) really wound me up due to the stupid woman not seemingly noticing I was there AFTER using my horn and being right behind her with my lights on!

So I was wondering if it's possible to fit a louder horn to the SLR without too much rewiring. I'm not looking for the loudest most agressive horn out there, just something that would be more like a car horn instead of the feeble noise that comes out at the moment. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: SLR650 horn

Hi Beanfeast

I was hacked off with the feeble horn on my '04 650 TA, so I replaced it with a Stebel Magnum unit from Nippy Normans. This is not the mega loud air horn (that's the Stebel Nautilus) but it is way louder than the standard "parp". No need for wiring changes, but you may need to make up a bracket.

Hope that helps.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Re: SLR650 horn

Excellent, that sounds like it'd be louder and it seems I might be able to pick one up for about a tenner too. The bracket shouldn't be a problem, thanks Lutin!

Re: SLR650 horn

Well I've had a look in Halfords and found the horn for £15, however it doesn't come with any sort of bracket which I thought it might. Plus on the SLR there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put the horn that might be remotely protective.
Do you think it'd be okay exposed on the front of the bike like the current horn is?

Don't see why not. Though you might want to angle the horn so that water doesn't run into it.

Re: SLR650 horn

Well I've ordered one that comes with brackets/fixings so hopefully that'll arrive early next week, then I'll get it fitted and put a pic up! Thanks for the help.
