Interesting, transalp, could you be so kind as to post up your appreciation of the new bike as a direct comparison to your dommie. I am thinking the same thing.
After four years on a GS1100 I downsized to a Dommie (its just for fun) but find it a bit lacking, but also good fun, I know, that does not make sense.
Cheers
No problem ! I don't take receipt of the tranny til tuesday, but I'll post some comparisons as soon as I've put a few miles on the clock. BTW I was just about decided on a 2001 Dommie with 18K kms on the clock, then came the 2000 Tranny with just 8K kms at equiv £1500 more. I thought ....hmmmm ! go for it![]()
Yepp 650 in "Bud Green Metallic" - I've never seen one of those on the road before ... http://www.motorcycledaily.com/xl650ve.pdf page 17 with the luggage set ... can't wait ! I'm like a kid at Christmas![]()
So what do you think, Dommie contre Transalp, I really would like to know as I am thinking seriously about doing the same...
On the way back from picking up the tranny (on a motorbike trailer attached to the car) I managed to pinch a nerve between my 5th and 6th vertebrae (goddam cars...), so sadly I can't comment yet on the pro's and cons. Had a little test ride though, and wouldn't really want to ride the tranny offroad. Maybe the money factor for new plastic rates predominently in that statement.... The transalp immediately felt like a marathon runner - the sort of machine you could sit all day on - though I'm guessing some may put me right on that one hahaha. Anyway, back to my sofa therapy.
