Question honda slr 650 , mileage 25700 ticking from engine

    Hi everyone!

I'm owner of Honda SLR 650 from two weeks. Now i'got problem with suspended sound coming from engine. While i riding on each gear with the revs about 1,5 k up to 2,0 k maybe 2,5 k (On each gear), i'm able to hear ticking from engine (from cylinder maybe). But there is no ticking on neutral, only on gears and throtlle on quarter power only (about).

Is there anyone able to help me, please.

    Sorry for my language.

    Hi mate,

I kind of answered this question on my thread that you posted in. I have exactly the same problem with my engine, and the only thing i can think of is that the revs are so low that the engine wants to stall. My dad calls it 'labouring'. I usually just change down a gear to bring the revs up a bit to be honest!

I've had my bike for just over 10,000 miles now and its always done it. I've never had a problem, and have checked the valve clearances 3 times since i bought the bike.

    Hope this helps you.

    Rob

I know it sounds stupid, but have you guys checked the passenger pegs? Mine (Dommie, not SLR, but still...) are all rattly and stuff when the engine is between 2k-ish and 3k-ish RPM. At first I was rather scared because the ratle was metal-on-metal ticking and was dependant on RPM. Then I rode with a pillion oen day and realised what the proablem was.

It's not sounds stupid mate . I going to check it.
I was thinking this same once or twice, maybe exhaust pipe protector or something. But the sound was exactly "metal -on-metal ticking" like something serious from engine.

Maybe your reply will be usefull.

    Thank you!

    Have a nice "Dommie" riding
