    Re: Kickstart

Bump starting is fine if you have a hill to run down but if you are on the flat or at the bottom of the hill it is hard work. I have always bump started bikes in 2nd or even 3rd gear but the NX just wouldn't pick up in 2nd. It went striaght away in 1st but took of like a cat with it's nuts in a blender.

Never mind TT coming up. I'm going over for the first time and am looking forward to it. Just hope I can get my bike back together by then.

Just been thinking about it, as I take the bike offroad a bit and last thing I want is a non start because of a dead battery. (It never sounds like it will start anyway...always does though, after a spin or two)

I dont know if the SLR had a kickstart?

The dommie did though and being the basically the same engine I just wondered...

    Thanks in advance
yes you certainly can add a kickstart.its been done before and i intend to do it myself to a slr motor that i am transplanting to a old xl.you need to split the crankcases so a full strip down.goodluck tractor.

theres a full write up on the parts you need and how to sort it out on thumpertalk.its a lot of work but in my opinion well worth it.all dual sports should have a kicker.infact the dual start lm i have i do not use the button as i prefer to kick it over...goodluck
