Chain And Sprockets

Hello.

I need to replace the chain on my bike soon (FX650 Vigor)
Its getting a bike worn, and is almost at the end of the adjusters...

Its got stock gearing (14 front, 43 rear) afaik...
Will check on that first...

Now, I already know I am going to get a DID V O-ring chain, as I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Sprockets will be steel, as they last longer...

What I want to ask though, is will increasing the rear to 45 tooth make a noticable difference? Currently it will pull 85mph (good with me on it) and in 1st, at low speed, will try and lift the wheel under power (enough to get the front a few inches off the ground)

It wont rev out it top gear, it gets to about 5500rpm and thats it...
I wondered if upping to the 45 tooth would make a difference?
e.g. would it be able to fully loft the wheel?
and would it still be able to pull 85? perhaps more?

I know it would make it better off road, but if it sacrifices road ability, its no good...

I have only changed the sprocket sizes on a bike once, and that was a 125 2 stroke sports bike...but it went a bit faster top end and accelerated much better by dropping a tooth from the front....I wondered if it would work on the Vigor :P

Before anyone says "85mph is slow from that bike, mine does a ton", I am more than happy doing 85mph, as I am commonly refered to as a giant or a big b*stard :P and share a brick walls aerodynamics...

Any thoughts?

Would dropping a tooth off the front as well be too big a change?

EDIT:
Does anyone know where I can get a 13 tooth front if needed?
Wemoto dont have them listed.

After thinking a little more, I think a 13 tooth front would be better than the bigger rear...

Re: Chain And Sprockets

Nothing wrong with the 1 tooth less on the front other than wearing quicker. I'd go up on the rear myself.

JT sprockets do a good range front and rear. No 13 front though.

Re: Chain And Sprockets

I think I will go up on the rear...

Is it true that the Dommie rear sprockets fit?

Reason being is that wemoto, only list a 1 or 2 tooth bigger rear for the FX650 Vigor...

Stock is 43, so I can definately get a 45...

Was wondering though about a 46 or 47 (like fitted to some dommies..)

The other thing I wanted to ask, is will there be enough adjustment on the chain adjusters if I put a bigger rear on?

The chain is a 108 link, but didnt want to order one with a bigger rear to find out it doesnt fit :P

EDIT:
Should have read that page first :P they sell bigger than 45t rears :P
