well how long will this last

Been getting some clicking noises from the front wheel when i push the Vigor backwards into the shed, went out for a nice ride today and speedo died on me flicked up and down then was ok for a while, was in barnstaple so thought drop in and raid my mate Phils stash of cables at his breakers, he was not in so failed there, So came home and attacked it, turned out it was the plastic drive wheel in the speedo drive had broken up, so looks up part numbers cog available on its own £17.30, complete speedo drive £18.20 + vat numpty on ebay £20+ £7.50 postage secondhand, now bike is outside shed sans front wheel now and it is gonna be a while before i can get the new drive, do i put it back without the gear, hang i have some genuine loctite superglue bought in a french hypermarket, that is supposed to be better than it is here, as supposedly the french do not stick each other to bog seats etc with it,
clean it up with carb cleaner, glue it back together file out the overspill glue after it had set, reassembled and it is working fine so i am gonna see how long it lasts new drive is on order from lings with a new cable £13.50

I've gone 6 tankfulls of gas (1200km give or take 200km) without a working speedo/odo. For me a new drive cog is about 20e; sadly I can't afford it these days...

    Who needs one?

Cheapest speeding ticket is at least 10 times the cost of a new speedo Cog indeed.

As long as I don't surpass 3500k RPM in 4th I'm ok in the city. Outside, 4,5k RPM in 5th is the limit. On the freeway I'll hate riding before I get fined (should hold a steady +6k RPM in 5th which is a bit much for my linking) And as you saw, I have a pretty simple way of judging km

havent you got a cheap bicycle speedo somewhere in the shed?

would do for a minute :P

EDIT: You have made me wonder though :S
Is that what is wrong with my speedo.. :S
Occasionally, the needle will start bouncing around... very random, and at no definative speed either...
it happened on friday...40mph and then the speedo started bouncing from 35mph to 45mph :S...stopped for a junction and it was fine again
