New Dominator owner saying hello

I have just purchased a mint condition 1997 Dominator with 10,000 miles covered. The engine was stripped and tuned at 5,000 miles including:
  • High compression forged piston and rings.
  • modified cylinder head.
  • High lift camshaft.
  • Oil cooler and temperature gauge.
  • Arrow single side exhaust system.
  • Brembo front brake caliper.
Claimed power up from 43bhp to 55 bhp.

I collect it tomorrow evening.

Photos to follow.....

It replaces a BMW R1200GS which I have to say I was not as good as I was expecting it to be. Don't even get me started on the indicator switching

I didn't lose any money on it, so that's a positive

Re: New Dominator owner saying hello

Welcome to the wonderful world of Dommie ownership. I have a '97 Dommie too, with 32K miles and still going strong. It's not been without its (minor) problems but, to me, half the fun of biking is taking them apart.

For a while I've thought that all the Dommie needs is another 10 bhp and a better front brake and it would probably be the perfect road bike - well it looks like you've got it

I use mine mainly for all year round commuting and occasional rides with friends. Last Sunday we did a 260 mile round trip to the Cotswolds and back and it never missed a beat. Considering I was with an '09 CB1000R and an '06 RSV Mille I thought it did really well - just stay off the dual carriageways 'cos it soon runs out of puff.

Enjoy.

UK spec but made in Italy. You've also got the centre stand which is an extra.

Made in Italy eh... Just like my Ducati

I've just fitted a Scottoiler. Not a difficult job, but the tank had to be removed to allow easy access to the vacuum pipe.

Next job, buy and fit braided hoses.
