How to adjust clutch biting point

Would welcome any advice on how to adjust the clutch biting point on my 95 Domi,

When I got it a couple of weeks ago the biting point was just before the clutch hand lever was fully extended. This makes it difficult to do slow manuevers effectively since it is realy either on or off and is very difficult to control speed.

Idealy I would like it to start biting around half way out - like the bikes I trained on did.

Seems that making adjustments up at the lever end just alters the amount of free play. Tried adjusting the clutch end too Got it so that it starts biting about where I think it should but this leaves the lever with hell of a lot of free play which adjustment at the top can't remove.

So any ideas about how a get the biting point where I want and have a sensible amount of freeplay?

Haven't realy found anything by searching yet.

    Thanks

What you've done sounds about right. Some bikes do have a lot of free play although you dont say how much you have. I don't have a dominator so I'm not familiar with how much is normal. Too much play means your clutch will never disengage fully. Too little and you risk "riding" the clutch ie: when bars turn and the cable tightens. Anything in between in my mind is OK.

Maybe a Domi owner can post the honda specified free play?

Honda recommends 15mm - 20mm of free play at the end of the clutch lever. I usually adjust it so that it starts biting with the lever about 1/3 in (straight handlebars), which is about 20mm of free play. So far so good...
