    Idle stall cure....possibly

I have read numerous posts saying that if you increase your idle speed to 100 or so more than what is specified in the owners manual, it will remedy the stalling at traffic lights problem, but I've had two dommies and this hasn't worked.
My idling speed was a tad high, so I turned it down while the engine was off, to what, I didnt know until I started and warmed it up the next day. What I've done, completely by chance (i.e. theres no science involved), is lower it to around 1000rpm, and since then it hasnt stalled on idle, though it does sound and feel as if it might at any time. I have stripped and rebuilt the carb recently which may help...

Whether it's just mine that works at 1000rpm remains to be seen, give it a go

Will idling too slow not put strain on the bearings and also reduce oil flow to the top end?

I'd say it's the carb cleaning that's done the trick, being able to run at 1000 rpm is just the result of that.

The real test is when snapping the throttle shut under hard braking on the approach to a traffic light. That's where you'll mostly find the legendary dommie stalling problem...

Mine will idle at 800 rpm when well warmed up on a hot summer day, not too sure if it's good for the engine but it will do it. It still occasionally stalls under braking, even though it's mostly gone away.

Anyway. Upping the idle speed isn't a proper fix anyway, it's a hack. Sorting out the carb so you can idle at 1000 rpm is the fix.
