Well got to the point of cleaning the rear suspension and needle roller bearings from the link arm are so bad, so i think i'm gonna have to buy a 2nd hand link , seems to be one thing after another, but we have to keep faith and plod on , at least ive painted the engine.

    Re: Restoring Dominator

Keep the piccies and reports coming in please Ikka, I`ve got a Dommie in need of exactly the same treatment so am watching this with interest. As much info as possible please!

The top yokes, did you just Nitro them?

Its certainly opened up a new line of restoration for me with the bike, I really thought the blasters were going to get loads of work....if Nitro will do the job then that`d suit me perfectly as I want to put as much personal work into the Dommie as possible.

Ive just used nitromorse on everything,, nitromorse then wire brush for stubborn paint or rust , some filler undercoat slight wet and dry then paint, seems to work. Good luck for starting yours.
I will take some more pics tomorrow, after the bearing escapade dont want to see it at the mo.

    Re: Restoring Dominator

I used aluminium wheel silver on the forks with engine laquer , i got advised that engine laquer is a lot tougher than normal ,the engine ive used matt silver on the crank cases then gloss silver on the clutch and magneto cases ,then gloss black on the barrel, head and rocker cover, all the paint is heat proof, will post a pic probably tomorrow. Just rebuilt my rear shocker here is a pic of that .

just starting to rebuild my rear link hopefully then i can get the swinging arm back on the bike,i may even have a rolling chassis by tomorrow with any luck .

    Re: Restoring Dominator

Have been neglecting my bike a bit, but back on with it, decided not to put the front fairings on , ground all the mounting points of the tank and filled ready for spraying. Mounted a new front headlight had to move the wiring around abit though ..
