    No Spark

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this: My 89 Dominator has had the spark plug firing intermitantly and now not at all. Spark plug has been changed, Ht lead and cap checked, Coil checked,CDI replaced, Kill switch checked. If anyone has any ideas to the cause of the problem then please let me know.

Well if all those checks and replacement parts are ok it's got me stumped. I would replace the plug cap and HT lead cos they ate cheap and easy. Then if you can, start swapping bits with another bike.

Not much help really. Good luck though.

If you've done all that and all are working correctly then you have to be looking at a break in a cable somewhere or an earth fault as theres not much left to try

About the only bit you haven't mentioned replacing is the pickup coil...

I have just recently had the same problem! One of the block connectors on the cdi was loose. The retaining clip was worn allowing it to come out when the vibes of the motor shook it about and it only needed a to move slighty to break the spark

    Re: No Spark

Have had another play around with it, still no luck, getting fed up trying to fix it in the rain so have decided to give up and a local bike shop will look at it tomorrow. I imagine it will probally be something really obvious.
will let you know how i get on.

    Re: No Spark

Thanks everyone for the advice. It turned out that the fault was a dry joint between the sender and the cdi.
