I know it's not a straight swap, which is why I asked in the first place. I'm the kind of guy that takes two brake pumps (a rear brake pump and a scooter left hand pump) and turns them intro a dommie hydraulic clutch.

What did you have to machine to get the swingie to fit? Did the rear sprocket align properly?

hydraulic clutch sounds cool do you have any info on that?

I had to machine the main pivot bearing bosses down by about 4mm from one side and 2mm from the other to make the swing arm fit in the frame and the sprockets lines up. I then changed the bearings from the oem roller bearings to about 6 ball bearings because the bearing bosses where narrower.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into it (damn it looks SOO cool). You wouldn't happen to know the wheel axle to shock mount and wheel axle to swingarm axle distances, would you?

As for my hydraulic clutch, it was an interesting experiment. It turned out poorly because I wasn't careful enough when documenting things. This is the basic setup:
    - 1x left hand hydraulic pump + reservoir + lever (handlebar mount)
    - 1x hydraulic pump (minipump) without reservoir (footbrake mount)
    - 1x lengthy brake line (~120cm does it usually)
    - piece(s) of steel, steel rod, welder, nuts and bolts and a powerdrill

You'll have to be extra careful at the hydraulic pumps' capacities. If the handlebar pump (your hydraulic master cylinder) is designed for a smaller caliper then the foot pump (your hydraulic slave cylinder) was designed for, you'll have a BAD setup. Like mine The handlebar pump I used was from a flimsy scooter that had a tiny brake caliper and the footpump I used as a slave was from a dommie, which had a bigger rear brake caliper. Result was insufficient clutch action.

Here's the pics of the deal: Picasa Web Albums - switch - Honda Dominat...

When I get a chance, I'll do this all over with a proper master cylinder and a slave cylinder from a minibike/pitbike which have tiny brake calipers.

Magura makes a ready to go bolt on kit for the FMX. This one also fit the NX as the engines are identical. The advantage of this system are that the slave is a pull instead of a push and it fits in the original cablebracket on top of the gearbox.

It is possible to buy the slavecylinder as a single unit if you don't want the complete kit.

My kit cost me under 50 pounds plus a few hours of tinkering. A magura is uphill of 300 pounds.

    Hay Switch

    those dims you wanted are,

wheel axle to swing arm spindle = 530mm

wheel axle to shocker pivot on swing arm = 360mm

all dims are approximate and are to be used as guidance only
