    dominator supermoto makeover

Well I have had my dommie for about 2 years now and I have used this forum to gain a great amount of info about the dommie so I thought I would show you my dominator so far......

This is how it looked when I bought it:

Well after a while of riding it I soon grew tired of the awful 90's pink graphics so I removed them and spayed over the offending area.
I then wanted more power in the right palaces so I bought a set of front pipes from ABP in Germany to go with the single Arrow can that was on the bike when I bought it. This freed up the midrange and made the back lanes a real treat. I then tinkered with the carb as per the FMX tunning thread and this gave better gains top end. The only thing left was a bit more grip from the tyres.
It was about this time I saw a few supermoto dommies in France and Germany and thought "hmmmm that looks like the answer!"

And so below is the result of my dominator supermoto make over:

    The makeover consists of:

    ABP Racing header pipes
Clamp on foam filter and tinkered with carb
Renthal bars, risers and lever guards.
CBR 600 front wheel, brakes, mud guard and lower fork stanchions.
VFR single swinger, wheel and brakes with CBR 600 rear shocker.
    Custom battery bracket.
OEM rear end removed and replaced with custom lights under rear guard, custom number plate bracket and luggage rack removed.
    OEM pillion foot pegs removed.
All plastics and tank sprayed in gloss black.
Clear front indicators and LED bulbs installed through out.
    Wheels powder coated white.
Custom made "Jack Daniel's Racing" graphics.

Plus there is still lots of little bits I want to do to it that people don't normally notice but they will add to the bike overall.

But then again nobody's bike is ever finished is it..............................

Nice set-up. I had a Dommie SM, too. Great fun!!

If you want grip, you want a nice set of BT 090s....mmmmmm!!

So where do the upper fork sliders come from? They look like they give the bike a lot of travel!!

    Re: dominator supermoto makeover

    cheers for the nice messages

Warthog, the fork uppers are the OEM dommie ones so i could get the height I needed because of the front wheel being 17" and the rear 18". At the moment i am running the bike in and letting it all settle in and so far the forks feel really good. I might change the springs in the forks at a later date if they do turn out to be a bit soft.

As I said, I SM'ed my Dommie, but nowhere near as comprehensively: mine was "SM-light".

I kept all the original suspension and only re-spoked the original hubs to 17" rims.

This made the final set-up a bit more straightforward: I only needed to adjust the headlight aim, get a speedo converter, and shave some metal from the fork brace...

    Re: dominator supermoto makeover

warthog, One of the tricks i used on my bike could be used on your bike too.
My front wheel was a 17" from a CBR 600 and i used the speedo drive from that as it had the correct ratio for the 17" wheel. I then used the CBR speedo cable and a 6" universal extension to give the cable a bit more play when turning. Best of all it used the OEM dommie clocks

switch, The swing arm is from a VFR 400 nc30 which i had to machine the width to make it fit between the dommie frame and then fabricate the shocker mount to mount the CBR shocker directly to the swing arm.
unfortunately its not a simple swing arm swap
