Honda SLR650 Tyre Pressures (Metzeler Tourance)

    Hi!

My SLR is shod with a nice pair of Metzeler Tourances, but I don't know what the pressures should be.

    The Metzeler site says:
    Front: 1.5 bar (21 psi +/-)
    Rear: 2 bar (29 psi +/-)

But that makes the front feel like a deflated beachball on fast, tight corners. What pressures should I use?

    The manual says:
    Front: 22psi
    Rear: 22psi

That seems really low, I was wondering what sort of pressures folk use on their bikes. If that is the right pressures I may just need to get used to the kinda odd feeling.

Fully agree, same on the FX 650. Question, why do tyres lose pressure? These days porous tubes and leaky schraders should be a thing of the past.

the majority of tubes are made in china/taiwan/india from usual rubber compounds + tubes is becoming a thing of the past.

on the other hand no one would be keen to pay £50-80 for one tube including me

Where does the £50 to £80 a tube come from? Yes I agree most tubes probably come from the far east and are probably made from a styrene butadiene compound also known as sbr but that does not explain why they lose pressure when stood for a week or so. This is not a new phenomena I've had pressure loss on many bikes with tubed tyres. It's very annoying.

those prices come from pricelists for genuine hi quality dunlop/pirelli/michelin etc tubes (not mooses). but they are getting extinct in those price lists nowadays as no one buys them. I had a set of heavy duty high quality pirelli tubes each costing 69 euros unfortunately they are not puncture resistant either

i noticed that thin walled cheap tubes are loosing pressure noticeably. But heavy duty (2-3 mm wall) or ultra heavy duty (3-5mm wall) tubes hold pressure much better
