Re: Difference between 950 and 990?

950 is carburetted - 990 is fuel injection

a few extra cubes and horsepower , but basically the same machine.

Son and grandson of Dakar winning bike (circa 2002).

950 carbs

990 Fi slightly bigger lump and slightly more power

other than that and the pain schemes there isnt a great deal of difference

both bloody good bikes, it has been said that the carbs model is slightly easier to live with than the Fi because the Fi is supposed to be a like a hair trigger. but this is easilly remedied with a G2 throttle cam,

ive the 990 and love it to bits but if i wasnt in the situation to have had a new bike , i wouldnt have baulked at the 950 at all
