Who knows what I will end up with, a late 05 looks like it could be out of my price range
pancho, the height is something you get used to. Im about 5,10 and manage fine with an 05 standard 950. You can also fiddle with the suspension which I have found to be quite firm even on standard settings. My old BMW used to sink several inches when I got on it, the KTM doesn’t seem to sink much at all. This is not something I have tried myself yet but Im sure there will be someone here who has.

I'm 5'10" and I manage my '04 fine on road and off road.

Don't let the tales of height put you off, they are better balanced than an @ and so I find it easier to move around.

    cheers, Bob.

hi pancho and welcome to the site
i've owned both the @ and 950 adventure and at 5' 10" you should have no problem with the 950 regardless of year or model
i'm 5' 6" and had a 04 R and all i needed was the lowered gel seat and could manage it ok
and at the moment because of inflated prices for @'s,early adv's are better buy...
