Aqualine Safari tanks

I saw this on the KTM UK forum and thought it might be of interest to some of you, 40 litres gives a huge range difference from the standard ones:-

http://www.rvaqualine.com.au/page.php?sId=12

A bit expensive I know, but I wrote to them this morning and asked if they did them in other colours beside the standard orange, black and 'see through' white. The nice lady in Oz that replied said:-

"Thank you for your enquiry, we are not able to mould this tank in blue.
The material used to mould the 950/990 Adventure tanks is not available in blue.
Please let me know if you need any further information."

My next question would be then, "Would it really be that difficult to just throw a bit of blue colouring into the plastic, instead of the orange or black, during the moulding?"
How do the factory teams do it then, for events like Dakar etc?

Re: Aqualine Safari tanks

Get them spray painted by a decent body shop , they will look much nicer than anything that could be put in the mould mix as pigment. 'cause the Dakar Blue is glossy and the coolest looking ADV colour - ME ? JEALOUS ?? NAH !!

The paint code is under your seat (I think).

Race teams generaly spray panels - cheaper than custom moulded .

And you Don will probably get them much cheaper than any of us in the UK , as I would guess the shipping costs from Aus to you would be considerably less than shipping to the UK. There are two stockists/agents I know of in UK - one is Redline racing and last time I looked the were wanting approx £900 for a set , then there is Touratech and they were wanting approx £1400 for the same thing !!!!!

I think I'll just stick to a refueling regime involving a top-up every 160 (or so) miles .

Re: Aqualine Safari tanks

WJ,
Thanks for the reply, mate. On their site, the Ozzie price is equivalent to 734 UK Pounds, but I've asked them this evening, how much their special export price is? Their GST is 10%, so hopefully the final quote will be around 661UKP, exclusive of shipping of course. Might be an early Chrissie present for the bike, might just go for the black one and save paint job hassles.
(In the more 'out of the way' places here, sometimes they only sell diesel at the gas stations, so I was thinking of cutting down on the reserve tank indicator/heart flutter moments.)
The TT's are 45 litres, whereas these are 40 I think.

Re: Aqualine Safari tanks

The 45 litre / 40 litre thing might be the difference between 950/990. When you fit the tanks to the 990 you have to insert the fuel pump into the tank and they are much bigger than I originally imagined !! think of something about the size of a thermos flask and you will not be far away !! s'friggin shuge !!!.

But !! laddie , sounds like you really are getting a bargin price for tanks shipped to your gaff - if only we could figure out a way of shipping from your place back to Ecosse without doubling the cost !!!!

Re: Aqualine Safari tanks

WJ,
Just for your info mate, got a note back from them about the price, the special export price is AUD 1380.00 or about UK Pounds 582.00. Freight up to where I live is UKPounds 76.00.
Think Xmas may be early for the Adventure!
Cheers

I'm kind of "hatching a plan" ........... to build a publicity machine , for a certain dealer, whith big ambitions !!! with all the overlanding bling on , all the RR stuff and TT where there are blanks in the RR catalogue and the aqualine tanks. We would use their demo bike when it's ready for sell-off at about 6 months old - get it pimped !! and use it for publicity.
