    Front Brakes to 950 Adv

    Hi all,

Love the Adv BUT the only thing that lets it down are the front brakes!!
I have tried a 990 and its about the same as mine , has anybody upgraded theirs???
I have changed the pads to sintered and got a bit more bite but still not great, fluid has been changed and calipers serviced...... HELP!!!

    Happy xmas to you all

They're Brembos, that's what you get weird but the front brake on my Dakar (Brembo) is too powerful for my liking

For me they're good enough, I come from a background of riding trail bikes so for riding off-road you don't want anything to powerful. I think they're a good compromise.

If you came from sportsbikes I'd imagine that you may find them a bit weak.

No problem here either, though I don't normally use the brakes alot, (back certainly, almost never), always find the engine is usually sufficient. Actual stopping capability of the Brembos? 'Bout the same as my AT, which has Nissins I think.

Thanks for the prompt replies lads , i came from a BMW so if i now think back to how firm the front end was on that to the soooooo long travel i have on the Adv that may well be my prob!!

Right next thread , is it thicker oil or stronger/ longer springs??? its on the sport setting at the mo and it rides and feels great BUT its the breaking , sorry perhaps the dive of the forks thats letting it down, any suggestions???

KTMTwins do harder springs (i'm havin a set) check your needs by mailing them. I'm 15st and need the .54's, the std are .48's(a bit soft) or you can go as hard as .60(they are std in the 950SE). .

I Had a BMW and went from that to a new shape Fazer 1000. I found the breaks and dive on the forks hard to get used to even on the Fazer. After being used to no dive at all on a bmw I think you may want to just live with it for a while before spending wads of cash on something you may find is fine once you readjust to a bike with normal forks.

FWIW, I've always thought the brembos were more than up to the job. maybe its the change from telelever back to "normal" forks?

Looking where you are, have you tried the KTM Centre in Hemel? I know a lot of people over on KTM Forum who swear by them, I'm sure Mark or Jason can put you right.
