Getting the rear tyre off the rim

OK I give up how do you get the tyre of the rear adventure rim so far I’ve tried
    • My home made tyre breaker and broke it
    • going for a long ride to warm it up
    • riding it flat
    • using my side stand on it
    • jacking the car up and lowering it on to the tyre with a bit of 4x2 wood between them

Sorry not much help but......previously having had the same problem, I used a mate's BMW GS1150 and it's sidestand, just about enough weight to break the bead. Help will be along shortly mate!

Bit obvious this, but why not take it to a professional. Most tyre bays will fit your own tyre without marking the wheel for a tenner. Saves a lot of anguish. Pity we're so far apart i'd be happy to pop it off for you.

No experience of the adventure but I have one of those plastic/nylon bead breaker chisel type things and a mallet......this hasn't failed me yet (but makes me sweat like a pig) on either the KLR or my sons XR125 (both tubed though) and I always find a spray of WD40 inside the rim helps .....just don't over do it

Lol, I've also tried all those on my AT and failed (cept for the riding it flat).

However I was talking to a guy yesterday who says he keeps walking around on his in circles for 15/20 minutes after which it starts to come loose so that'll be the next thing I try.

are you scrapping the tyre in which case violence with a large chisel near the bead , if not try driving/tapping a tyre lever between the bead and rim. be very careful not too damage the rim

Ashley, has it got the O/E Scorpions on it? If so you are going through the same anguish a lot of us have been through.

The rear is a bitch to break the bead, I failed after a day of trying and took mine to the local tyre shop in the end.

Re: Getting the rear tyre off the rim

Success I’ve done it I used my bikes side stand again but this time once I had it balance on the tyre I poured boiling water round the area it popped off after doing this 3 times, I had to hold the bike on the tyre for about 10/15 minutes before it worked. The rim is OE it has a inner lip that I think was part of the problem but it also had some kind of sealant between the rim and tyre.
I have another question is this a run flat rim as this lip looks like is there to keep the tyre on the rim, I am a bit worried now about getting a flat off road as I don’t think I could do this on the road side, how do the rest of you repair a flat off road.
Hi tread trader yes I could have taken it to someone but as I will be using it off road, sooner or later I will get a flat so I need to be able to sort it out myself, but I have to say I very nearly gave in.

    Thanks for all your help
    Ashley

No it is a tubed tyre its just that the rim looks more like my old Range Rover rim on the inside, then my Africa Twin rim, which was very easy to get tyres off the rim
