Re: KTM 640 Adventure

I rode a friends and loved it, very very tall though, he'd had the seat height lifted to suit his very tall height. He followed me for 50 miles of motorway work and kept up a steady 80mph with no problems. He swore it was a bike he was going to keep forever....until it was stolen.

2000 XRV750 (NO 3), I think I'm getting the hang of them now, must fit the centrestand before the back tyre wears out. Damn, the driveshaft bearing wore out first!

Re: KTM 640 Adventure

Try before you buy - I had one and hated it ! they look fantastic and have some great bits but imho they don't live up to the sum of their parts- look at the KTM sectino on Horizons Unlimited for common problems , I didn't find the vibes too bad because my backside was in so much pain from the dreadful seat , a trip down to Spain left me in agony for weeks afterwards - secondly the build quality was poor every nut and bolt will round off just by looking at it - having said that my previous bike had been an XR650L so perhaps its not fair to judge KTM agaisnt Honda build quality - still a very sexy looking bike

i have to agree about build quality. a friend of mine runs the local motorbike shop and had a SuperDuke in last week. how many different fasteners can they use in how many different sizes? nuts, bolts, allen screws, all in different sizes too and all to hold the tank in place.
