No it wasn't Steve..Compose yerself.....We were laughing at them at the time......

My mate had an older version...(was it some sort of 250 motorbike engine mounted on the front wheel ? )you could turn the steering all the way round (almost). He went to buy something from a Petrol Station and whilst he was away the chaps turned the steering round....when he pulled away it went sideways through the shop window.......

They had steering like Dodgems...

Can't remember what happened next......no video in those days though......

Anyway...talking of mounting engines...off to the garage for a few hours...

There's a youtube clip I saw where someone put a superbike engine in a reliant robbin. On the test drive it takes off like a rocket, then rolls straight over at the first corner .

EDIT: Found it:

This makes me laugh too:

Not many cars you can pick up when they fall over

Well I'm not so sure Cabby My stepfather had a Bond (and these Orange things were Bond, not reliant weren't they?). That thing was metallic purple and had a Hilman Imp 1100 engine mounted transverse at the back. Wotsit off a shovel had noting in it and I was a passenger in it when a Cooper S (a proper one, nothing like these remakes) tried it on in a country lane. They went through a hedge and we went home for tea. Thinking about it, my step father was a bit of a tearaway

Re: the 'original' orange

This is similar to my mate had........

Bond Ranger van, powered by 250cc villiers engine. It is an all aluminium body with a fibreglass hardtop.

By removing the hardtop, it can be used as a convertible, it has a bench seat in the front and two small jump seats in the rear.

It can be started by kickstarting, although you have to climb into the engine bay,

Maaan
No wonder you could drive em on a bike licence!

My step father's Bond was more 1970s and I don't think you could kick start them... well, not unless your name is Chad I suppose
